Phyllis Jean Kemp , 81, entered eternal life on Saturday, October 9, 2021.  She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.  Phyllis was a homemaker and caregiver for her mother later in life, and worked previously as an apartment manager and an employee of Airguard in New Albany.  Phyllis attended Utica Baptist Church, Utica Indiana.

She was preceded in death by her parents Orville Schmitt and Lorene Baumgart (Wilbert-Stepfather), two brothers, Larry Schmitt and Billy Schmitt.  Phyllis is survived by her husband of 33 years, David Kemp, New Albany, daughter Alice McGloshen (Ross), sons Mark James (Jacqueline), Scott James, sister Jane Nichols, three grandsons, Eric McGloshen, David Bowman, and Justin James, a great-nephew Billy Kemp that she parented and several stepchildren, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 P.M. on Wednesday, October 13, 2021 at the Garr Funeral Home in Sellersburg with interment to follow at Walnut Ridge Cemetery in Jeffersonville. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. and on Wednesday from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the service at the funeral home.
