Sellersburg, Indiana

Owen "Dale" Longest , 78, passed away on Friday, October 06, 2017 at his home in Sellersburg surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Sellersburg on September 30, 1939 to the late Norman and Mary (Murphy) Longest. Mr. Longest was a member of the St. John Paul II Catholic Church (St. Paul Campus). He retired from Martin Marietta where he was a plant manager.  Mr. Longest was preceded in death by his great grandson, Ryan Longest, his sister, Mary Jo Tomes, his mother -in- law Dorothy Hatfield and his father-in-law J.L. Hatfield.

Survivors include his wife, Mae Longest of Sellersburg, William Longest, Jr. (Elizabeth) of Sellersburg, his daughter, Pamela Maples (Scott) of Memphis, Indiana, his brother, Norman Longest (Molly) of Memphis, his sisters, Dolores Hamm of Memphis and Opal Thomas (Matt) of Henryville , his grandchildren, William Longest, Jr. , Scottie Maples, Jr. (Morgan) of Jeffersonville and  Shane Maples (Alicia) of Memphis.  Mr. Longest also leaves behind four great grandchildren, Madalyn Longest, Lucy Maples, Emilee Ash, and Ryann Vissing.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, October 9, 2017 at the Garr Funeral Home in Sellersburg with interment to follow in Bowery Cemetery in Memphis.  Visitation will take place at the funeral home on Sunday, October 8, 2017 from 11:00 A.M. until 8:00 P.M.  and on Monday from 9:00 A.M. until the time of the service at the Funeral Home.
