Nancy Morene Eiler, a devoted family woman, peacefully passed away on Thursday, September 25th, 2025, at Baptist Health Floyd Hospital in New Albany, Indiana. She was 86 years old.
Born on January 23rd, 1939, in Big Spring, Kentucky, Nancy was the cherished daughter of the late David and Morene Lucas. At a young age, she moved with her family to New Albany, Indiana, where she grew up and graduated from New Albany High School. Her love for education led her to a rewarding 20 Plus year career as a teacher's aide with the New Albany Floyd County Schools, where she made a lasting impact on countless young lives.
Nancy was a devoted member of Jacobs Chapel United Methodist Church in New Albany and was known for her joyous spirit and community involvement. She greatly enjoyed playing Bunco with her friends, cheering for IU Basketball, and most importantly, spending cherished moments with her family.
Nancy was preceded in death by her dear parents, David and Morene Lucas; her beloved husband, Joseph O. Eiler Jr.; and her brother, Butch Lucas. She is survived by her daughter, Terri Snyder and by her son, Jeffrey Eiler and his wife Becky. Her memory will also be cherished by her sister, Betty Zemke and her husband Kent; her adoring grandchildren, Brent Kochert and his wife Megan, Owen Eiler and his wife Taylor, Emily Jones and her husband Andrew, and Olivia Eiler. Nancy also leaves 6 great-grandchildren to cherish her legacy.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects during the visitation set for Monday, September 29th, 2025, from 12:00 pm to 6:00 pm at Garr Funeral Home (7806 Highway 311, Sellersburg, Indiana 47172). A funeral service will follow at 6:00 pm, in the funeral home chapel. A private interment will be held at Kraft Graceland Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, an organization Nancy felt passionately about supporting.
