Jeffersonville, Indiana

Michael "Mike" W. Wilkerson , 42, passed away on Saturday May 21, 2016 at the University of Louisville Hospital. He was born on March 24, 1974 to Thomas and Nancy Wilkerson in Jeffersonville, Indiana. Mike graduated from Indiana University with a degree in Elementary Education. He was also a Silver Creek High School alumni. Mike was a teacher and librarian for Grant Line Elementary School located in New Albany, Indiana. He was also the new Coordinator for all elementary school libraries in the New Albany/Floyd County school system. Mike was very active in Relay for Life which raises funds for the American Cancer Society. He was a member of the Northside Christian Church in New Albany. "Mike positively affects everyone he meets, whether they know it or not. From getting kids to read, to raising funds to fight cancer, he illustrates how one person can make a big difference in the lives of others." (Amanda Beam). He was preceded in death by both of his parents and his brother Tony Hart.

A funeral service will be held at 5PM on Thursday May 26, 2016 at the Garr Funeral Home in Sellersburg. Visitation will be held on Wednesday at the funeral home from 2:00-8:00 P.M.  and on Thursday from 4PM until the time of the service.
