Mike Conroy Gater , 62, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, January 21, 2024. Born on March 25, 1961, in Jeffersonville, Indiana, to Conroy and Patricia Gater (Stinnette), Mike leaves behind a legacy of warmth and unique passions.

Known for his love of discovering hidden treasures, Mike had a knack for buying and selling antiques, with a particular fondness for the rustier finds. His family fondly remembers him buying junk and selling antiques. Mike found joy in fishing, gardening, camping, exploring yard sales and throwing the ball for his sidekick, Rusty. He always appreciated the simple pleasures of life.

A man who never knew a stranger, Mike's friendly demeanor and welcoming spirit touched the lives of those around him. His granddaughter Vivian held a special place in his heart, and he cherished the moments spent together. Having dedicated years of service, Mike retired from Extreme Trailer, where he served as a repair estimator. Mike was preceded in death by his father, Conroy Gater.

Survivors include his loving wife of 39 years, Lori Gater of Sellersburg, Indiana, his son, Tyler Gater (Amanda) of Louisville, Kentucky, his granddaughter, Vivian Gater, his mother, Patricia Gater of Otisco, Indiana, his sisters, Patty Haehl (Jim) of Otisco, Indiana and Amanda Gater also of Otisco. Mike also leaves his sister-in-law Edena Nease (Scotty) as well as his nieces and nephews to cherish his memory, Erin Watson (Eric), Brittany Carson (Tyler), Logan Carson, Sidney Nease, Logan Crabtree, Jeremy Nease and Lindsey Nease.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 27, 2024 from 2:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at the Garr Funeral Home (7806 Highway 311, Sellersburg, Indiana 47172).
