Obituary

Melvin Lee Wall, devoted spouse, beloved father, and accomplished entrepreneur, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 22nd, 2026, at the age of 94, with his loving wife Ruth by his side in Clarksville, Indiana.

Born on Monday, February 1st, 1932, in Indiana, Melvin dedicated his life to serving his community, family, and passions. A noble man with a heart for service, he was a police officer with the Indiana State Police, where he served honorably for over 18 years and retired as a Sergeant.

Throughout his life, Melvin was a dynamic and enterprising individual who thrived in numerous ventures. After retiring from the police force, he pursued various business endeavors. He owned and operated the Korner Kitchen Restaurant and Mountain Top Cafe, was an over-the-road independent semi-truck operator, and owned Eagle Automotive, an auto repair, sales, and wrecker service business. Additionally, he owned an auto recovery business and founded Eaglecrest Vineyards, a testament to his visionary spirit.

Melvin had a profound love for basketball. With fond memories of scoring 38 points in a high school game, he remained an avid Indiana University basketball fan throughout his life. His enthusiasm extended to celebrating and supporting the sporting activities of his son, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

A man of many interests, Melvin took immense pride in maintaining his homes, especially the lawns and flowers, and had a profound passion for cars and trucks, always ensuring they were immaculate. He was an esteemed member of Southeast Christian Church and a proud Mason.

Melvin was married for 53 wonderful years to his beloved wife, Ruth Wall, who survives him. He is also survived by his dear children, David Wall (Kay); daughters, Jeannine Dearlove (Tim) and Angela Pellman (Rick); step-sons, Mike Parks (Denise) and Alan Parks (Stephanie); step-daughter, Terry Parks Haub; brother, Norman Wall; and sister, Carol Weaver (Tom). Melvin leaves his legacy to be cherished by his 11 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.

Melvin was preceded in death by his parents, John Wall and Rhea Wall, and by his sister, Wilda Mae Swygart.

Visitation will be held at Garr Funeral Home (7806 Highway 311, Sellersburg, Indiana 47172) on Thursday, July 30th, 2026, from noon until 2:00 pm, followed by a funeral service at 2:00 pm at the same location. Melvin will be laid to rest at Gethsemane Lutheran Church Cemetery in Corydon, Indiana.
