Mary A. Scifres , 90, passed away on Thursday, April 13, 2017 at Baptist Health Floyd Hospital in New Albany. She was born on February 8, 1927 to the late Charles and Laura Prather  in Charlestown, Indiana. Mrs. Scifres was a previous co-owner of Scifres Electric Co. She was a member of the Speed Memorial Church, Apet Shrine Club Guild and High Flyers of 1927. In her spare time Mrs. Scifres enjoyed crochet work, quilting, sewing, reading, and making wedding cakes. She was preceded in death by her loving husband Glenn Scifres, her brother, Charles Prather, and her sister, Margaret Braun. Survivors include her son, Glenn Scifres, Jr. of Wichita, Kansas; daughters, Mary Jo Harrod (Don Sowers) of Nicholasville, Kentucky; Jennifer Wright (Kevin) of Sellersburg, Indiana; her sister Kathryn Kovachik (John) of New Albany, Indiana; her grandchildren, Kaylee Wright, Scarlett Harrod, Brady Scifres, Chloe Scifres and her great grandchildren, Isaiah Wright, Cooper Scifres, Finley Hildreth, Jeremiah Wright, Blair Scifres, Paisley Hildreth, and Greer Scifres.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Monday, April 17, 2017 at the Speed Memorial Church (328 US 31 Sellersburg, Indiana 47172) with interment to follow at Silver Creek Cemetery. Visitation will take place on Saturday, April 15, 2017 from 3 P.M. until 8 P.M. at the Garr Funeral Home in Sellersburg and on Monday from 11 A.M. until the time of the service at the church.
