Mary Marguerite Hood, a beacon of love and kindness, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 20th, 2026. Born in Louisville, Kentucky, on Tuesday, June 26th, 1945, Mary lived a life rich in love, service, and creativity.
A devoted wife, Mary was married to her beloved husband, Edward Hood, for 63 wonderful years, a testament to their enduring love and partnership. Together, they built a loving family and a warm home filled with joy and laughter.
Mary's life was a tapestry of art and service. A talented artist in the fields of painting and fiber arts, she shared her creations at numerous art shows, bringing beauty and inspiration to many. Her career saw her in various clerical and secretarial positions, but her heart found fulfillment working with the United Methodist Church in Jeffersonville, where she embraced her role with dedication and grace.
Mary's passion for service extended beyond her professional life. She was an active member of her church's quilting club and enjoyed making care packages for needy children. Mary also found joy in her flower garden, nurturing each bloom with the same care she gave to her family and community.
Mary is survived by her loving husband, Edward, and her children: Doug Hood (Cheryl), Bryan Hood (Jeannette), and Kim Hood. She leaves behind a legacy through her grandchildren, Kelly Hood (Mari), Brandi Newton (Kevin), Riley Martin, Andrew Hood, Alannah Hood, Sharlise Hood, Whitney Hood, JJ Agrusa, and Rose Agrusa, as well as many cherished great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents, John P. Morton and Dorothy Morton, and her brothers, David Morton and Jack Morton.
Family and friends are invited to honor Mary’s memory during the visitation at Garr Funeral Home (7806 Highway 311, Sellersburg, Indiana 47172) on Saturday, April 25th, 2026, from 11:30 am to 1:30 pm. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Michael Catholic Church ( 101 St Michaels Dr, Charlestown, IN 47111) on the same day at 10:00 am.
