November 4, 1936 – August 15, 2023
Mary Ann White , 86, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Aug. 15, at her son's home. She was born on November 4, 1936 to the late William Arthur Crider and Rhoda (May) Crider in Jeffersonville, Indiana. Mary Ann was a graduate of Silver Creek High School and became a legal secretary before returning to school where she earned her Bachelor of Science and Masters degree from Indiana University Southeast to become an elementary school teacher and taught for 29 years in the West Clark School Corporation at Henryville, Memphis, Borden and Sellersburg Elementary Schools. Mary Ann was a lifelong devout Christian, a member of the Indiana Retired Teachers Association and a Kentucky Colonel. She had a compassionate heart for people and animals and was a charitable donor to many organizations.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years Robert White and daughter Patricia White as well as five brothers and three sisters.
She is survived by her son, Terry (Cindi) White, Memphis; niece, Lisa Crawford (Tony); three grandaughters, Erica (Nick) Phillippe, Adrienne (Scott) Poindexter, Melissa (Zach) Redden; nine great- grandchildren; her sister Janet (Charlie) Jones and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Thursday August 17, 2023 from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Garr Funeral Home in Sellersburg.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, August 18, 2023, at the Garr Funeral Home in Sellersburg with burial to follow at Bowery Cemetery.
The family would like to thank Hosparus of Southern Indiana for the loving care and support given during Mary Ann's illness.
