Martha Lorraine Schleicher, 94, passed away on Tuesday, January 3, 2017 at Baptist Health- Floyd Hospital in New Albany, Indiana. Mrs. Schleicher was born on July 13, 1922 to the late Willis and Olive (Fisher) Payne in Borden, Indiana. She retired from West Clark Community Schools after 22 years as a Registered Nurse. During her nursing career Mrs. Schleicher also worked at Jeff Boat in Jeffersonville, Indiana and Phillip Morris in Louisville, Kentucky. She was was a 50 year member of the General Grand Chapter Order of the Eastern Star- Borden, Indiana.  Mrs. Schleicher was an avid reader and enjoyed the arts very much. She was preceded in death by her husband Kermit Schleicher and her brother William Payne. The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the following care givers; Julie, Kathy, Carol, Madra and Helen.  Survivers include her son, John Schleicher of Boston, Massachusetts, her daughter, Christina (Michael) Jenkins of Corydon, Indiana, her grandson, Wesley (Jen) Jenkins, her granddaughters, Marlea (Kaleb) Lay, Morgan Schleicher and April (Robert) Mutchie and her great grandchildren, Kightley Lay, Makayla Mitchell, Robbie Mutchie and Taylor Mutchie.

A Funeral service will be held at 11 AM on Friday January 6, 2017 at the Garr Funeral Home in Sellersburg with internment to follow at Walnut Hill Cemetery in Borden, Indiana.
