Mark A. Smith , 59, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 2, 2022 at his home in Sellersburg, Indiana. He was born on August 14, 1962 to Ben and Doris Smith (Vincent) in Jeffersonville, Indiana. Mark was a member of the Silver Creek High School class of 1980 and an alumnus of Indiana University. He worked for River Hills Development Corporation and served as the vise president of S.K. Wilson and Associates where he worked as a grant writer for municipal road improvements. Mark loved the great outdoors. He could always be found fishing, hunting, boating or working in his gardens.  Mark was the number one IU sports fan. He enjoyed his animals, particularly his dogs.

Survivors include his father, Ben Smith of Borden, his mother, Doris Smith of Sellersburg, his daughters, Kelsey Lage (Michael) of South Jordan, Utah, Kaley Sturgeon (Tyler) of Georgetown, Indiana, Quinn Smith of Sellersburg, his brother, Greg Smith of Sellersburg and his nephew, Ian Smith of Sellersburg. Mark also leaves behind his grandson to cherish his memory, Leo Sage.

Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 P.M.  on Saturday, March 5, 2022 at the Garr Funeral Home in Sellersburg with interment to follow at Sellersburg Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Friday from 2:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. and on Saturday from 11:00 A.M. until the time of the service at the funeral home.
