Mark Anthony Ball , 77, of Sellersburg, Indiana, peacefully entered into eternity on Tuesday, October 22, 2024, at Rolling Hills Healthcare in New Albany, Indiana. Born on May 21, 1947, to the late Arthur and Mary Louise Ball (Enders) in New Albany, Mark was a devoted public servant and a respected figure in his community. He proudly served his country in the United States Army Reserve and later retired as the Fire Chief of the Sellersburg Fire Department. His dedication to public safety extended beyond the firehouse, as he also served as a Reserve Officer for the Clark County Sheriff's Office. Mark was a proud member of the American Legion Post 204 and the Indiana Volunteer Firefighters Association District 14.
Mark was a man of strength, loyalty, and unwavering service, qualities that endeared him to his family and the community he so selflessly served. His beloved wife, Theresa, preceded him in death earlier this year, leaving behind a bond that time could never break. Mark was also preceded in death by his stepson, Steven "Stevo" Gouldy.
He is survived by his daughters, Eden Justice (Harold) and Lisa Ball; his stepson, Justin Gouldy (Andrea); his stepdaughter, Alyssa Shuck (James); and his brother, Donnie Ball (Patty). Mark's love for his family lives on in his grandchildren: Andrew (Tara), Britny (Cody), Alison, Jenna, Audrey, and Juliette. He also leaves behind his three great-grandchildren: Jackson, Madalynn, and Blaze, who will cherish his memory for years to come.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, October 28, 2024, at Garr Funeral Home (7806 Highway 311, Sellersburg, Indiana 47172), with interment to follow at Sellersburg Cemetery. Friends and family are invited to pay their respects on Sunday, October 27, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM, and on Monday from 10:00 AM until the time of service at the funeral home. Memorial contributions can be made to Garr Funeral Home to help the family with final expenses.
