Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Magdalena "Maggie" Hall on Tuesday, December 31, 2024, at the age of 73. Her kind spirit and resilient nature will be deeply missed by everyone who had the honor of knowing her.

Magdalena was born on October 23, 1951, in the Philippines, and grew up in the Mission District of San Francisco. She lived for many years in Charlestown, Indiana.  Magdalena was the beloved daughter of the late Cesar Mangaliman Sr. and Victoria Mangaliman and sister to the departed Fides Rojo. She was educated at San Francisco University, where she fostered a lifelong love of learning and education.

For many years, Magdalena dedicated her time as a Cashier at the Caesars Casino, where she was known for her tireless work ethic and unfailing smile. Her colleagues and customers cherished her friendly demeanor and admired her patriotism and resourcefulness.

Magdalena's family brought her immense joy. She leaves behind a legacy of love with her son Eric "Erlich" Balingit (Erica); daughter Alicia Hall (Tyler Trowbridge); her brother Cesar Mangaliman and sister Amelia Geronimo. She was also the adored grandmother to Nyjell, Erika, Elayna, Jasmine, Ella, Emery, Elijah, Bailey, Zoe, and Oaks, and great-grandmother to Lavey and Elora. She was the heart of her family, and would do anything for her grandchildren.

Beyond her professional and familial commitments, Magdalena found a deep affinity for nature and would often spend her free moments tending to her beloved plants. She was also an enthusiastic dancer and a fan of action movies, embracing life in all its vibrancy and movement. She always had a smile with her bright red lipstick, and handy bottle of Vaseline hand lotion.

A graveside service will be held on January 18, 1 PM at Silver Creek Cemetery 5647 Brick Church Rd, Memphis, IN 47143.

To honor Magdalena's life and bid her a heartfelt farewell, arrangements have been graciously provided by Garr Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to FEAT of Louisville, 1100 E. Market St, Louisville, KY 40206.

Magdalena Hall leaves behind a legacy of love, curiosity, and devotion. Her enduring spirit and the lessons she instilled will live on in the hearts of her family and friends, reminding us all of the power of hard work, thrifty living, and love unbounded by measure.
