Obituary

Lonnie Cooper, Jr ., 90, passed away at his home surrounded by his family on Saturday, August 18, 2018. He was born on February 13, 1928 in Salyersville, Kentucky to the late Alec L. and Martha M. Cooper. Mr. Cooper retired from ICI America after 38 years where he worked as a painter. He was a member of the Stony Point Christian Church in Charlestown and the Masonic Lodge 651 located in Henryville, Indiana. Mr. Cooper was the number 1 University of Kentucky Wildcat fan. He enjoyed playing cards, horse racing and spending time with his family. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Lloyd and Glen Cooper, his sisters, Mabel Graston, Mildred Hobbs, JuliaMae Haub and by his granddaughters, Jackie Gillespie and Katie Gillespie.

Survivors include his loving wife of 69 years, Gladys Cooper of Memphis, his son, Gary Cooper (Liz) of Henryville, Inidana, his daughters, Sally Peters (Ralph) of Memphis, Sheila Cooper of Memphis, and Melissa Halfhill of Louisville, Kentucky.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, August 24, 2018 at the Garr Funeral Home in Sellersburg with interment to follow in Silver Creek Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 2:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. and on Friday from 9:00 A.M. until the time of the service at the funeral home.
