Linda Kay Smith, 77, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 3rd, 2025. Born on January 19th, 1948, in Louisville, Kentucky, Linda lived a full and vibrant life, touching the hearts of all those around her.
Linda was a dedicated homemaker, known for her warmth and hospitality. She cherished spending time with her family and friends, always organizing memorable gatherings.
She found joy in simple pleasures—visiting her favorite restaurants, playing Bingo, and basking in the sun at her treasured beach outings. A dedicated member of the Traditions Retirement Group, she cherished her outings with them and took immense pride in planning the annual "Cousins Lunch," a celebration of family ties.
Linda is lovingly remembered by her family, including her nieces Cindi Walker and Carol Walker (Richard), and her nephews David Leister, Jr. (Susan) and Gerald Leister (Susan). She also leaves behind her step-children, Kim Chesser (Kevin) and Jim Smith (Brenda), along with her step-grandchildren, Alixandria Chesser and Kevin Chesser, Jr. (Michelle), and great-grandchildren, Reagan Chesser and Kevin Chesser III. Linda's life was further enriched by her 8 great nieces, 1 great nephew, 5 great-great nieces, and 4 great-great nephews, all of whom she adored and influenced with her loving spirit.
She was preceded in death by her parents, David F. Leister and Margaret K. Leister, her spouse, James Clarence Smith, her brother, David Leister, and her sister-in-law, Wanda Leister. She joins them in eternal rest.
A funeral mass will be held at 12:00 P.M. on Saturday, August 9, 2025 at St. John Paul II Catholic Church (2253 West St. Joe Rd. Sellersburg, IN 47172) with interment to follow at Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Jeffersonville. Visitation will be held at the Garr Funeral Home (7806 highway 311, Sellersburg, Indiana 47172) from 9:00 A.M. until the procession to the church.
