Lillian Rae Curtis passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 26th, 2025, at Maple Manor Christian Home in Sellersburg, Indiana. Born on December 25th, 1929, in Youngstown, Ohio, Lillian was a cherished mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who touched the lives of many with her warmth and dedication.
Lillian was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Raymon and Lillian J. Stepp; her husband, Melvin Curtis; and her sisters, Shirley Barnhart and Barbara Dawson. She is survived by her loving children: Carolyn Curtis (Don Parker), Ginny Davidson (Terry), David Curtis (Joie), and Laura Roberts, along with her nine devoted grandchildren: Matt, Amy, Curt, Beth, Becky, Christy, Ray, Jason, and Brian. Lillian also leaves behind 17 great-grandchildren
A dedicated professional, Lillian spent 22 years as a manager at Colgate Credit Union, from where she retired. During the early years in her career in banking, she led the opening of the Census Federal Credit Union located in Jeffersonville, Indiana, marking the start of a lifelong commitment to the industry.
Beyond her professional achievements, she was a member of the Sellersburg United Methodist Church where she served as the church historian. Lillian served as a member of the Sellersburg Cemetery Association. In her retirement years she loved to travel.
Visitation for Lillian Rae Curtis will be held at Garr Funeral Home in Sellersburg (7806 Highway 311, Sellersburg, Indiana 47172), on Tuesday, December 2nd, 2025, from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm and on Wednesday, December 3rd, 2025 from 9:00 am until the time of the funeral service. A funeral service celebrating Lillian's remarkable life will take place at the same location on Wednesday, December 3rd, 2025, at 11:00 am with interment to follow at Sellersburg Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to: Sellersburg United Methodist Church (226 North New Albany Street, Sellersburg, Indiana 47172).The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the nursing staff of Maple Manor Christian Home and Amedisys Hospice for the wonderful care they received.
