Larry Gene Merrell, a dedicated and honorable man, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 28th, 2026. Born on July 21st, 1947, in Marietta, Georgia, Larry lived a life marked by service and love.

Larry served his country with distinction and pride, retiring after 20 years of honorable service in the United States Army. His commitment to his country was only matched by his devotion to his family.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Karen D. Barrett , his sons Timothy Merrell, Dannie Merrell, Brian Barrett and Brent Barrett, his daughter Kimberly DeSousa. Larry also leaves behind his brother Butch, sister Marsha, and four cherished grandchildren who brought joy to his life.

Preceding him in death were his father, Wilbur Gene Edwards, his mother, Dorothy Sue Turner and his sister Monica.

Larry will be remembered for his kindness, strength, and unwavering loyalty. Services are entrusted to Garr Funeral Home.
