IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Larry W.
Jackson
January 27, 1954 – April 25, 2024
Larry Jackson of Sellersburg, Indiana, age 70, entered eternal rest on Thursday, April 25, 2024.
Larry was born January 27, 1954 to Don and Elsie Jackson whom preceded him in death. He grew up a country boy in Clay City, Indiana. Learning to drive on tractors in the field at a young age, he had a lifelong love for nature and wide open spaces. Larry loved his family. He got to enjoy 39 years married to his best friend, Teresa Jackson. Their union produced three devoted children, Ashley (Bart) Page, Heather (Colin) Hawkins, and Alexander Jackson. Also mourning, are the children from his first marriage, Eric Jackson and Amanda (Nathen) Frey. Always an active and involved dad, he was an even more involved Papa to his beloved grandchildren Brantley, Logan and Kaiden, especially after retiring as Parts Manager at Kentucky Trailer in 2020 after 28 years with the company. Whether it be hiking Nine Penny Trail with his grandsons, teaching them archery, competing to be first in line in the school pick-up line, or delivering a car full of football players to and from practice, Larry thrived at being a full-time Papa. He is also survived by grandchildren Tyler, Kelsey, Jake, Aubrey, Sierra, Brittany, and Dylan, his sister, Donna (John) Klingler, his in-laws, Vernon and Ann Oakley, a sister and brothers in-law, nieces and a nephew, and great-grandchildren. Known as a man who could fix anything, "Papa fix it" became a regular mantra around the Jackson household. One of his most prolific hobbies was woodworking. His family and friends will now cherish their "Handcrafted by Larry W. Jackson" treasures even more. Larry enjoyed hiking and camping, especially during his many years involved in Boy Scouts Troop 10 in various roles and with the Lincoln Heritage Council. In his many years of service, he enjoyed many distinctions, including District Commissioner, Order of the Arrow, the Silver Beaver Award. Larry gained and gave so much joy from teaching and helping others. After years of being identified as an amateur Santa, last Christmas he went pro. A role he was born to play, Larry was his most jolly connecting with the kids. If you met Larry as a stranger, you parted as a friend. He enjoyed being the life of the party and had a talent for finding humor in every situation, or forcing a fart joke into the situation, if necessary. Larry could make you smile no matter what. He truly could fix anything- from your car's alternator to a broken heart. We desperately wish he was here to heal our hearts now, share a joke to make us laugh, and hug us tight enough that our broken pieces go back in place, as only he could. We take comfort that he is soaring with the eagles and watching over us until it is our time to be reunited.
A celebration of life will be held at Garr Funeral Home in Sellersburg, Indiana, on Tuesday, April 30. Visitation will be hosted from 4-6pm with a memorial service following at 6pm. Contributions toward memorial expenses can be made to the family at Venmo (@Ashley-Jackson-571).
