With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Kevin Alan Potts, who entered into eternal rest on Monday, November 2nd, 2026, at the age of 60. Born on Thursday, May 12th, 1966, in New Albany, Indiana, Kevin lived a life full of adventure, love, and dedication, residing in West Point, Kentucky at the time of his passing.
Kevin honorably served his country through his commitment to the United States Navy, proudly serving aboard the submarine, the USS Baltimore and the ship, USS L.Y. Spear, both stationed out of Norfolk, Virginia. Following his distinguished military service, he contributed significantly to the U.S. Census Bureau for many years.
A man of many passions, Kevin was an avid fan of Indiana University basketball and football, and he ardently supported the Indianapolis Colts. He had a profound passion for horse racing, fondly recalling attending races at Churchill Downs even as a young boy. An admirer of comedy movies, Kevin found joy and wisdom in the writings of J.R.R. Tolkien, with "The Lord of the Rings" holding a special place in his heart. He cherished the companionship of his beloved cats, Stella, Bee, Javi, and his most recent rescue, Baxter.
Kevin is survived by his devoted wife, Cynthia Potts, his sister, Michelle Dehate (Darren), his step-daughter Shayla Lybarger (Dallion), and his grandson Levi Grote. Treasured memories will also be held by his nephews, Tyler Dehate (Amy) and Trent Dehate (Andrea), his great-nephew Eliot Dehate, and great-nieces Sylvia, Willa, Amelia, and Isla Dehate. He also leaves his two children, Hunter and Klay Potts,
Preceded in death by his loving parents, Dean and Shirley Potts, Kevin's life and memory will continue to be celebrated by his family and friends.
