Katrina Victoria McGucken (Vickie)
Vickie McGucken, 78, of Sellersburg, Indiana, passed away on July 27, 2026. Vickie was preceded in death by her beloved husband, William Vincent McGucken II. Vickie is survived by her son Ben (Amy Lynn), daughters Jennifer Shore (Russell), and Amy Elizabeth. Also surviving are grandsons Kyle (Mikeaela), Patrick (Audrey), Jack, and great grandson Aiden.
Vickie was born on June 30, 1948, and grew up in Oxford, Alabama. She met and married her college sweetheart, Vince McGucken in 1967. Vickie and her husband lived in Selma, Alabama and were married for over 40 years until his death in August of 2011. Vickie’s career began as a teacher in the Dallas County public school district in Selma, AL. She devoted her life to education for over 30 years shaping countless lives through her compassion, patience, and dedication. She later continued her service as a social worker until her retirement.
Beyond her professional life, Vickie was blessed with a beautiful singing voice and a deep love of music. She found joy in singing in her church choir and in local performances of Handel’s Messiah. Vickie had a passion for tennis and loved playing at the Southern Indiana Tennis facility in Sellersburg, IN. She cherished her dog, Bella, and loved spending time with friends and family.
Vickie’s legacy endures in the many lives she touched and in the values she embodied. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who have had the privilege of knowing her.
Visitation for Vickie will be held at Garr Funeral Home (7806 Highway 311 Sellersburg, Indiana 47172) on Friday July 31, 2026 from 12:00 PM until 1:00 PM. Graveside services will be held Tuesday August 4, 2026 at 12:00 PM Central Time at New Live Oak Cemetery (110 W Dallas Ave Selma, Alabama 36701).
In lieu of flowers, the family requests gifts be made to the National Parkinson’s Institute (nationalparkinsonsinsitute.com) and the Floyd County Animal Rescue League (floydcountyanimals.org).
