IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Julia Katherine
(Roberts) Loy
December 24, 1942 – January 16, 2025
Julia Katherine (Roberts) Loy
Born on December 24, 1942, in Sunshine, Kentucky, Julia Katherine Loy passed away peacefully on January 16, 2025, at the age of 82.
Julia was the cherished daughter of Charles and Beatrice (Langley) Roberts and was one of 10 siblings: Lillie Ennist, Margie Muncy, Sharon Haueisen, Peggy Harcha (deceased), Phyllis Zaph, Dorothy Bentley, Tommy Roberts, Jimmy Roberts, and Chuckie Roberts (deceased).
Julia was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend. Above all, she was a faithful servant of Christ, living each day with His gentleness and kindness. She touched countless lives with her love, generosity and sweet smile.
She is survived by her loving husband of nearly 38 years, Dana Loy, and her beloved children: Robert Jenkins (Jenny) of Louisville, KY; Evelyn (Clark) Kuhn of Mt. Washington, KY; Gina Jenkins of Louisville, KY; and Benjamin Loy (Kaitlynn) of Borden, IN. Julia's greatest joy was her family, including her grandchildren, Josh Jenkins (Crystal), Joel Kuhn, Samuel Kuhn, Reagan Loy, Remington Loy, and Deacon Loy, and her two great-grandchildren, Jay and Harper.
Julia built a beautiful life with Dana, starting in Pekin, Indiana, where they began their journey. They then built their dream home in Borden, Indiana, where they spent most of their life together. They eventually settled in Scottsburg, Indiana in their final home together.
Professionally, Julia was a dedicated and accomplished woman, serving as Vice President of Finance at CEDCO in Louisville for over 30 years. She forged lifelong friendships and left an indelible mark on her colleagues. In her retirement, she supported Dana in pursuing his dream of founding Heritage Insurance and Investments, playing an instrumental role in its success.
Julia enjoyed traveling with Dana, especially to Apalachicola and the Florida Keys. Anywhere she could be near the ocean and meeting new friends. She treasured trips with her sisters and the memories they always made.
Her days were often filled with coffee, a Sudoku book or her Kindle, and going to cheer on her grandchildren at their many athletic events, and always in her signature fedora.
A woman of faith and service, Julia was a deaconess at Evangel, a volunteer on the prayer line, and an active helper at Northside, often volunteering at the coffee shop. Together, Julia and Dana supported numerous churches, schools, athletic programs, and humanitarian efforts across Scott and Clark counties and beyond.
Julia was as sharp as she was kind, always ready to go wherever the wind took her. Dana lovingly called her his "perfect wife", as they were indeed, perfect for each other.
While our hearts ache at her passing, we take comfort knowing she is free of pain, rejoicing on Heaven's streets of gold. We know we will see her again.
Arrangements:
Visitation will be held at Garr Funeral Home in Sellersburg, Indiana, on Thursday, January 23, from 4–8 PM. A celebration of Julia's life will take place on Friday, January 24, at noon, followed by burial at Walnut Hill Cemetery in Borden, Indiana.
