Obituary

Joyce Goode McIntyre, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 26, 2026. Joyce was born on August 5, 1949, in Jeffersonville, Indiana, and she was a cherished resident of Memphis, Indiana.

Joyce dedicated 38 years of her life to working for the Census Bureau, where her commitment and hard work left a lasting impact. Beyond her career, Joyce was a member and treasurer of the Memphis United Methodist Church for many years. Her generous spirit extended to her quirky love for taxes, which she enjoyed doing as a hobby, charging just $10 to help others through the tax season.

Joyce had a zest for life, often found enjoying a good book by the pool, traveling the world, and taking memorable cruises. Her greatest joy, however, was her family, especially spending cherished moments with her grandchildren, Jonathan, Braieden, and Makenna.

She is survived by her devoted husband, William "Bill" McIntyre; her children, Jeff McIntyre and his wife Rebecca, Jonathan McIntyre, and her loving daughter, Amy Cundiff and her husband Chad. Joyce is also survived by her brothers, Gary Goode and his wife Wanda, and Roger Goode and his wife Sheri. She was predeceased by her parents, James and Mildred Goode.

Family and friends are invited to gather for a visitation on Wednesday, July 1st, 2026, from 12:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Garr Funeral Home (7806 Highway 311, Sellersburg, Indiana 47172). and on Thursday from 11:00 A.M. until 1:00 P.M. A funeral service to honor Joyce's life will be held at the same location on Thursday, July 2nd, 2026, at 1:00 pm. Interment will follow at Bowery Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to Maple Manor Christian Home (643 West Utica Street, Sellersburg, Indiana 47172).
