It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Joyce E. Hecker, beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother and friend. Joyce was born on March 10, 1935, in Memphis, Indiana, and peacefully departed this life on January 5, 2026, at the age of 90.

A lifelong resident of Sellersburg, Indiana, Joyce dedicated her life to her family and her community. As a homemaker, she created a warm and loving environment for her loved ones. Joyce's gentle spirit and nurturing nature were evident to anyone who had the pleasure of knowing her.

Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Hazel Curtis; her devoted husband, James Hecker; and her brothers Carl "June" Curtis, Melvin Curtis and Charles "Bob" Curtis. She is survived by her cherished sons, Alfred Hecker (Pat) and Scott Hecker; her granddaughters, Jessica Vogler (Luke) and Amanda Lennartz (Martin); and great-grandchildren, Zoe and Sydney Lennartz and London, Quentin, Saylor and Sutton Vogler.

Joyce had a passion for reading and enjoyed crafting ceramics in her earlier years. She enjoyed outings with friends and embraced the joy of being social; creating countless memories shared over laughter and good food.

The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, January 14, 2026, at 11:00 AM at the Garr Funeral Home (7806 Highway 311, Sellersburg, Indiana 47172) with interment to follow at Sellersburg Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 13, 2026 from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M.  and on Wednesday from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the service at the funeral home.
