Joyce Elaine Adams , 81, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 21st, 2024, at Maple Manor Christian Home in Sellersburg, Indiana. Born on Sunday, December 19th, 1943, Joyce lived a life full of dedication, service, and love for her community and family.

Joyce spent her career as the Sellersburg Elementary School cafeteria manager  with the West Clark School System, where her dedication and commitment touched the lives of many students and colleagues. She was a respected figure in the community, known for her warmth and generosity.

Her commitment to service extended beyond her professional life. Joyce was a vibrant member of the Clark County Fraternal Order of Police Auxiliary #181, actively participated in her church, Sellersburg United Methodist and was a former board member of the Sellersburg Cemetery Board of Directors. She cherished her time with her beloved Bunco group, sharing laughter and good company with dear friends.

Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, Allen J. Delmas and Ruby B. Allen, her beloved husband Howard "Red" Adams, her nephew Michael Tackett, and brother-in-law Shirl Tackett.

She is survived by her loving son, John Adams (Rachel) of Sellersburg, IN; her cherished sister, Anita Tackett; and a host of nieces, nephews, and their families, including Chris Tackett (Colleen), Ethan Tackett, Aedan Tackett, Ashton Tackett, Avery Tackett, Laurie Tackett (Michaels Wife), Shelby Boehm (Andrew), Evan Tackett (Raye), Chloe Tackett, Ben Tackett, and her grandchildren, Eli Adams, Laney Adams, and Leland Adams.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, December 28, 2024 at the Garr Funeral Home (7806 Highway 311, Sellersburg, Indiana 47172) with interment to follow at Sellersburg Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Friday from 2:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. and on Saturday from 9:00 A.M. until the time of the service at the funeral Home. The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the caring staff of Maple Manor Christian Home for their outstanding care given to Joyce and her family during her time there.
