John G. Baxter , 76, passed away on Thursday, March 19, 2020 at The Medical Center in Bowling Green, Kentucky. He was born at home in Speed, Indiana on August 14, 1943 to the late Raymond and Esther Baxter (Briner). John honorably served his country in the Indiana Army National Guard. He retired from Kings Daughter and Sons Nursing Home in Louisville, Kentucky where he was the maintenance Supervisor. John was a life time member of the American Legion Post 204 in Sellersburg. In the early years he enjoyed hunting and fishing. Fishing remained a hobby of johns throughout his later years.  He was preceded in death by her brothers, Emmett, Raymond (Gonk), Bill, Eddie and Leland Baxter and one great grandson, Howard Gilbert.

Survivors include his sons, James Baxter (Kellie) of Brownsville, Kentucky, Hoyt Baxter (Lana) of Sellersburg, his daughters, Kimberly Light (Jay) of Nashville, Tennessee and Aletha Thomas (John) of Mt. Washington, Kentucky. John also leaves behind 12 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren to cherish his memory.

A private visitation will be held due to the current pandemic situation. A graveside service will be held at 12:00 P.M. on Wednesday, March 25, 2020 at the Sellersburg Cemetery.
