Jerry Lee Cowles, Sr. entered eternal life on Tuesday, December 12, 2023, at the age of 74, at his Charlestown, Indiana home.

Jerry's life was marked by a remarkable dedication to service. He honorably served in the United States Navy before transitioning to a career in law enforcement as a police officer for Clarksville, Indiana. He served the citizens of Clarksville for nearly two decades, spanning from 1977 to 1996.

Beyond his distinguished service, Jerry embraced the skies, finding joy and fulfillment as a skilled hot air balloon pilot. As a pilot for Sunny Side of Louisville, his aerial artistry captivated audiences and brought smiles to countless faces. He reveled in the exhilaration of the Mount St. Francis hot air balloon races and shared his passion at numerous festivals, spreading joy and wonder through the beauty of flight. Jerry was a member of the Northside Christian Church in New Albany.

Survivors include his sons, Jerry Lee Cowles, Jr. of Memphis, Indiana, Nathan Cowles (Mary) of Sellersburg, Indiana and his sister, Carol Elaine Pelz of Ohio. Jerry is also leaves two grandchildren to cherish his memory, Aiden and Everly Cowles.
