Obituary

Janet Lynn Caldwell , born on December 31, 1970, in Lexington, KY, passed away peacefully on March 3, 2025. Janet was a devoted wife, loving mother, cherished sister, and a dear friend to many. Her presence brought warmth and joy to all who knew her.

Janet was the beloved wife of Landon Caldwell. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and unwavering support in New Albany, IN.—a love story that began on a beautiful beach in Hawaii where they were married. Their marriage was a testament to their deep connection and mutual admiration.

A dedicated mother, Janet's greatest joys were her children, Alexis  and Dane. Becoming a mother on May 9, 2005, to Alexis and on October 25, 2007, to Dane, Janet embraced motherhood with boundless energy, love, and humor. She was fiercely supportive of her children, attending all of their sports games and inspiring them with her uplifting spirit and sense of humor. Her favorite saying, "Be able to laugh at yourself. If not, life will be hard," was both a personal credo and a guiding principle for her family.

Janet was the daughter of Janice Bates and Jimmy Gaunce. She has now joined her mother in heaven. She is survived by her spouse Landon Caldwell, her children Alexis and Dane,  her father Jimmy (Ann), her sister, Susan Godman (Lee) and their children, Drake, Ashbrooke, and Karter her brother-in-law Robert Caldwell (Tammy), and sisters-in-law Crystal Roberts (Paul) and Summer Fletcher.

Growing up in Versailles, KY, Janet graduated from Woodford high school in 1988 and later earned her accounting degree from Morehead State University in 1992, where she played college basketball and was a member of the Chi Omega Sorority. She began her professional life, working as a CPA for Crowe-Chizek in Lexington, KY. and later for Wetterer & Co. in Louisville, KY. when she and Landon moved to New Albany in 2002.

Janet's family finds comfort knowing she is walking with Jesus, and they honor her legacy by living life with laughter, love, and faith. The family is deeply grateful for the overwhelming support and prayers from their community during this difficult time.
