Jim Hutchinson, 69, of Sellersburg, Indiana, passed away on Thursday, May 28, 2026, surrounded by loved ones at home after a courageous battle with cancer. Born the third of four children to Philip and Gloria Hutchinson, Jim was a lifelong resident of Sellersburg. Growing up in a bustling household, Jim built numerous friendships from a very early age that would follow him throughout his life.

 After graduation from Silver Creek High School in 1975, he met his future wife Lynne Mayfield five years later, and the couple were married in 1982. Together, they built a life that spanned 44 years of marriage, three children, and a love that was evident to everyone around them.

Jim built a career of four decades with Voluforms from the company’s first days. To his colleagues and clients, he was much more than just a salesperson; he was a trusted advisor and loyal friend. He approached every relationship with integrity and dedication, leaving an indelible mark on everyone who worked with him.

Jim was a man deeply devoted to those he loved. As a husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, and friend, he will be remembered for his genuine kindness, selfless acts of service, and unconditional love. ‘Hutch,’ as he was known to many, had a true passion for music and a gift for perfectly timed one-liners. His playful sense of humor will be greatly missed.

Jim recognized and relished the many joys life had to offer, from family vacations and live music to delicious food, beloved family dogs, and leisurely evenings spent with those he loved. Though his loss will be deeply felt, he leaves behind a legacy of kindness and devotion that will endure in the countless lives he touched.

Jim is preceded in death by his father, Philip Lewis Hutchinson, Jr., his sister, Patricia Barnes (Hutchinson), father-in-law, Bruce Mayfield and nephew, Michael Hutchinson.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Lynne Ann (Mayfield) Hutchinson; his daughter,Jessica Day; his sons, Douglas (Ryan Formanek) and Daniel (Stefanie); his grandsons, Samuel, Emmett and Declan Day; his mother, Gloria Hutchinson; and his brothers, Philip Lewis Hutchinson, III (Donna) and John Hutchinson (Mary Ann), mother-in-law Lois Mayfield, a niece and five nephews.

Services: Visitation will be held at Garr Funeral Home in Sellersburg, Indiana on Wednesday, June 3rd from 2:00 PM until 8:00 PM and Thursday, June 4th from 10:00 AM until noon. A memorial service will follow on Thursday, June 4th at noon.
