Herman "Buster" Leroy Cissell, of Borden, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 28, 2026, at the age of 82.

Buster was born on May 20, 1944, in Louisville and spent his early childhood years in Bardstown. In 1948, the Cissell family moved to Borden, Indiana, where they built a life and a family farm on 200 acres that would become known throughout the community as Cissell's Produce.

What started with a simple picnic table in the family's front yard grew into a beloved local business where generations of families came for fresh, homegrown vegetables and friendly conversation. Buster spent his life working side by side with his family on the farm, doing what he loved most. Farming was more than a livelihood to him it was his passion. He took great pride in raising cattle and growing produce that brought people together around their tables for many years.

In addition to farming, Buster retired from GE after years of dedicated service. Even with the demands of work and farming, his greatest joy was always his family. He loved spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, making memories that will be treasured forever. Whether hunting, fishing, sharing stories, or simply enjoying time together, Buster valued the moments spent with family and friends most of all.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Dianna McCutcheon Cissell; his parents, George and Minnie Bea Cissell; grandson, James Hogan Cissell; and siblings, Helen Cissell, Juanita Hisle (Albert), Ethel Sneed (Jesse), William Cissell (Betty), Vernon Cissell, Richard Cissell (Rosemary), and Minnie Bea Johnson (Harvey).

Buster is survived by his loving children, Angela "Angie" Hazen (Rick) and James "Jamie" Cissell (Michelle); grandchildren, Robert "Cameron" Hazen (Paige Tyler), Connor Hazen, Ethan Cissell (Summer Morgan), and Emily Cissell; great-grandchildren, Annmarie Hazen and Elliott Burns; sister, Betty Bilbrey (Donald); brother-in-law, James "JB" McCutcheon (Rebecca); sister-in-law, Ramona McCutcheon; along with many cherished nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.

Visitation for Mr. Cissell will be Friday June 5, 2026 at Garr Funeral Home (7806 Highway 311 Sellersburg, IN 47172) from 2:00 pm until 8:00 pm, and Saturday June 6, 2026 from 9:00 am until the time of service. Funeral Services for Mr. Cissell will be Saturday June 6, 2026 at 11:00 am at Garr Funeral Home (7806 Highway 311 Sellersburg, IN 47172) with Interment to follow at Miller Cemetery.
