Helen Pennington Moore , 82, passed away on the evening of Thursday, June 1, 2017 at Providence Diversicare Transitional Care Community in New Albany. She was born on September 12, 1934 to the late Orville and Marcella Hecker in Sellersburg. Mrs. Moore was a retired accountant. She kept financial records for Graceland Memorial Park in New Albany and Garr Funeral Service in Sellersburg. Mrs. Moore was a member of St. John Paul II Catholic Church (St. Paul Campus) where she was very active in the church community. She was a member of the Tuesday Morning Bible Study Group, Senior Choir, and volunteer rosary leader for local nursing homes. Mrs. Moore was a previous money counter for the church. She was preceded in death by her first husband William "Bill" Pennington, her second husband, Charles Fred Moore and her brother Martin Hecker.

Survivors include her son, David (Shirley) Pennington of San Diego, California, her daughter, Mary Jo Trester of Sellersburg, Indiana, and her sister Marie Schafer of Charlestown, Indiana. Mrs. Moore also leaves behind one granddaughter Allie (Chris) Bower of Charlestown.

A funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Monday, June 5, 2017 at St. John Paul II Catholic Church (St. Paul Campus) in Sellersburg with interment to follow at Sellersburg Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Sunday from 3:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.Memorial contributions can be made to St. John Paul II Catholic Church.
