Gwendolyn (Akers) Conaway , 89, formerly of Borden, passed away May 31, 2023. She was born August 10, 1933 in Borden, Indiana. She was preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Ruby Akers; her spouse, Arnold Conaway; and her siblings, Marvin Akers (Polly) and Fayetta Burns (Paul), all from Borden.

Gwen retired from Haas Cabinet in Sellersburg, as a quality inspector in 1998 after 27 plus years of service. She loved to crochet, enjoyed country music shows with her friends, and being on the go.

She is survived by her children, Larry Martin (Diane) of Borden, Garry Martin (Barbara) of New Albany, Jack Thomas (Anita) of Borden, and Anita Dudley (Roger) of Sellersburg. Gwen had eight grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and seven great-great-grandchildren; various cousins, nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Wednesday, June 7, 2023 at the Garr Funeral Home (7806 Highway 311, Sellersburg, Indiana 47172) with interment to follow at Walnut Hill Cemetery in Borden. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the service at the funeral home.
