Obituary

Charlestown, IN - Gwen Irene Moser, a beloved friend, mentor, and spiritual guide, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, April 15th, 2026, at the age of 82. Born on Friday, April 7th, 1944, in Louisville, KY, Gwen was a shining light in the lives of all who knew her.

Gwen devoted much of her life to the education and development of young minds as a high school guidance counselor and later as the Department Chairperson at Jeffersonville High School. Her career also saw impactful stints as a juvenile probation officer and the Assistant Director of Regional Youth Services during her pursuit of a master's degree from the University of Louisville following her undergraduate education at Taylor University.

Her passion for life was as vibrant as her love for golf, gardening, and world travel. An adventurer at heart, she was once an avid skier and marathon runner. In her later years, she poured her energy into serving others as a hospice chaplain and an Associate Pastor at Unity of East Louisville after graduating from Unity Urban Ministerial School. Her favorite saying, "Life is GOOD...when we know our SOURCE!" reflected her enduring optimism and deep faith.

A funeral service to celebrate Gwen's remarkable life will be held at Walnut Ridge Cemetery in Jeffersonville, IN, on Saturday, April 25th, 2026, at 10:00 a.m., followed by a service at 12 noon at Unity of East Louisville, 740 Old Harrods Creek Road, Louisville, KY. Arrangements are entrusted to Garr Funeral Home.

Gwen is survived by her sister-in-law Patricia M. McCarthy, cherished friend Mary Rice, her nephew Nathan Gale Moser, and her nieces Alexis (Moser) Kennedy and Lilly Moser-Grunewald, along with beloved grandnieces and grandnephews. She was preceded in death by her loving parents Novitas Ray and Ruth Patrick Moser, her brother Gale Warren Moser, and her nephew Jordan Chase Moser.

Gwen’s legacy will live on in the countless lives she touched, leaving an indelible mark of love, wisdom, and kindness. She will be dearly missed but never forgotten.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Gwen’s memory to Unity of East Louisville, 740 Old Harrods Creek Road, Louisville, KY (www.unityofeastlouisville.org).
