Gilda McDaniel, 89 died peacefully on February 24, 2016.  She was born in Philadelphia, PA, lived in Clarksville, IN, and moved to West Melbourne, FL, in 2002.  Jill (as she was known) was an avid poodle breeder and groomer who participated in dog shows around the country.  More importantly, she was a beloved and devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

Her family includes her daughter Carol Altman, whom she has resided with for 30 years; a son, James A. McDaniel and Shirley of Huntingburg, IN; grandchildren, Jonathan and Lisa Altman of Sellersburg, IN; Michael Altman of Clarksville, IN; Dr. Daniel and Jessica Altman of Louisville, KY; Mary Katherine and Jason Wagner of Lakeland, FL; Elizabeth and Staff Sgt. D.J. May of Clarksville, TN; John McDaniel and Jessica Ahrens of Huntingburg, IN; Scott and Debbie Putnam of St. Petersburg, FL; Master Sgt. David and Chrissy McDaniel of St. Petersburg, FL; great grandchildren Christopher, Alexus, and Kayla Wagner; Brayden May; Alexander and Xavier Altman; and Katie and Luke McDaniel.

She was preceded in death by husbands Emil Kreigsman and Master Sgt. James E. McDaniel, Ret.; and three sons, Anthony J., John T., and Gunnery Sgt. Forrest R. McDaniel Ret.

A memorial service will be held at Garr Funeral Home in Sellersburg, Indiana on Sunday April 10, 2016 at 1:00 P.M. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Hospice of Health First, 1900 Dairy Road, West Melbourne, FL, or to William Childs Hospice House in Palm Bay, FL.
