IN LOVING MEMORY OF
George Orvis
Williams
September 4, 1957 – September 15, 2024
George Orvis Williams , 67, entered into eternity on Sunday, September 15, 2024, at his home in Sellersburg, Indiana, surrounded by his loving family. Born on September 4, 1957, in Bluffton, Indiana, George lived a life of service, dedication, and joy.
A proud veteran, George served his country with honor in the United States Marine Corps. He remained connected to his fellow servicemen as a member of the American Legion Post 42 and the Marine Corps League. His faith was central to his life, and he was a devoted member of Grace Lutheran Church in New Albany.
George retired after 25 years as an electronic technician at the American Printing House for the Blind. He spent his retirement indulging in the simple joys of life: fishing, cheering on his favorite NASCAR drivers, spending precious time with his grandchildren, and tinkering with anything in need of repair. He also found great pleasure in riding his Harley-Davidson Sportster motorcycle, which brought him freedom and peace.
George's warmth, devotion, and love for his family and community will be deeply missed, but his legacy will live on through the countless lives he touched. He was preceded in death by his Mother, Lucille Reed and by his step-father, Hubert Westin.
George is survived by his high school sweetheart, Patricia Williams (Clark). They shared 46 wonderful years of marriage. He is also survived by his sons, Jeffery Williams (Joyce) of Garrett, Indiana, Gerald Williams (Jessica) of Georgetown, Indiana, his daughters, Victoria Dahill (Kevin) of Sellersburg, Stephanie Ayiku-Teye (Emmanuel) of Sellersburg, his father, James Williams (Carolyn) of Indianapolis, Indiana and his sisters, Evelyn Stephenson (Jack) of Indianapolis, and Jo Gutzmer of Indianapolis. George also leaves 10 grandchildren to cherish his legacy.
Funeral services will be held at 11AM on Friday, September 20, 2024 at Grace Lutheran Church (1787 Klerner Ln, New Albany, IN 47150) with interment to follow at Fairview Cemetery in New Albany. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 4:00 P.M. until 8 P.M. at the Garr Funeral Home (7806 Highway 311, Sellersburg, Indiana 47172) and on Friday from 9:00 A.M. until the time of the service at the church.
