George Merrill Cunningham , 89, passed away on Thursday, December 22, 2016 at his home. He was born on September 24, 1927 to the late Dwight and Mary (Lewis) Cunningham in Lawrence County Illinois. Mr. Cunningham was a retired sales representative for Lone Star Industries in Indianapolis, Indiana. He honorably served his country in the United States Army. Mr. Cunningham was a member of the Scottsville Christian Church in Floyds Knobs, Indiana. He was preceded in death by his brother Viril Cunningham. Surviving are his loving wife, Mary Lee (Rose) Cunningham of New Albany, Indiana, his sons, Steve (Deena) Cunningham of Sellersburg, Indiana and Scott (Adriene) Cunningham of King, North Carolina, his grandchildren, Erin (Clint) Hanner, Caleb Cunningham, Brett (Alex) Cunningham, Ashley Cunningham, and Taylor Cunningham, and his great grand daughter, Madalyn Hanner.  Funeral services will be held 12 noon on Saturday December 24, 2016 at the Garr Funeral Home in Sellersburg with burial to follow at Sellersburg cemetery.  Visitation will be on Saturday from 11:00 AM until the time of the service at the funeral home.
