Obituary

Gale P. Spencer, age 67, entered eternal life peacefully on Monday, August 25, 2026, at Baptist Health in Louisville, Kentucky.

Gale was born on November 20, 1958, to the late Lula Everage Perkins in Jeffersonville, Indiana. Throughout much of her life, Gale was a caregiver, dedicating herself to helping and caring for others with a generous heart.

Gale found joy in the simple things in life and treasured the time she spent with her family and friends. She enjoyed singing, road trips, thrifting, and spending quality time with the people she loved. Some of her favorite moments were spent playing games, especially Rook and Mario Party, sharing childhood stories, laughing together, and simply enjoying each other's company.

Gale loved sitting in the sunshine as well as listening to the rain. She enjoyed an ice-cold tea, listening to music, and watching soap operas. She was always someone to lend an ear.

She enjoyed trips to Texas Roadhouse with her lifelong friend, Paula Wiseman, and had a special fondness for Red Hots. Her favorite color was red, especially the beautiful reds of fall. She also held a special place in her heart for Cinderella.

Gale was preceded in death by her beloved husband, James E. Spencer Jr.; her mother, Lula Everage Perkins; her brothers, Billy Perkins and Moris Perkins; and her son-in-law, Paul Ledbetter.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory her daughters, Debra Lynn Doscher (Christopher) and Kaitlin Ann Spencer; her son, Tyler Spencer (Josh); and her granddaughters, Heather Ann Ledbetter, Hannah Lynn Ledbetter, and Azalyn Grace Doscher.

She is also survived by her sisters, Pamela Kay Muncy and Connie Meadows; as well as her brothers, Bobbi Perkins, Robert Perkins, and David Perkins.

Gale is also survived by her niece, Maggie Ann Summers (Nash); her great-niece and great-nephew, Khloe Lula Summers and Deacon Nash Summers; her sisters-in-law, Patty Dalton (Jimmy) and Mary Pickerill (Danny); and her brother-in-law, Eddie Spencer.

She leaves behind many other nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends who will continue to cherish her memory.

Gale will be deeply missed by her family and friends and by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her kindness, her listening ear, her laughter, and the love she gave so freely will remain in their hearts forever.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, September 3, 2026 at the Garr Funeral Home (7806 Highway 311, Sellersburg, Indiana 47172) with interment to follow at Forest Grove Cemetery.
