Franklin D. Broady , aged 89, passed away on December 19, 2023. He was born on August 5, 1934, to Leander and Alice Broady, and his legacy is woven into the lives he touched and the work he accomplished during his lifetime.

Franklin was a skilled welder and fitter, dedicating numerous years to Jeffboat and American Commercial Barge Lines. His craftsmanship and commitment in his profession were admired by colleagues and friends alike.

Franklin is reunited with his beloved wife Hattie, son James, grandson Christopher, and daughter-in-law Melissa Broady. Their memories continue to live on alongside him. He leaves behind a cherished legacy and a family that was his pride and joy. Franklin is survived by his sons Jerry (Snooky) and David; daughter Patricia Murphy (Mike); sister Etta Mae Minton; grandchildren Chad, Jason, Trish, and David; great-grandchildren Mya, Tyler, Caleb, Alana, and Melissa; and great-great-grandchildren Ezralee, Tucker, and Hattie Grace. Each of them holds dear the lessons, love, and wisdom he shared. He loved camping, hunting, and fishing, and just being in the woods with nature.

Franklin Broady will be remembered for his unwavering dedication to his family, his skilled craftsmanship, and the warmth of his heart that touched the lives of many. He has left a void that will be deeply felt, yet his spirit lives on through the cherished memories and the love he imparted to all who knew him.

Funeral services will be held at the Garr Funeral Home in Sellersburg on Thursday, December 28, 2023 at 1:00 P.M. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, December 27, 2023 from 4:00 P.M. until  8:00 P.M. and on Thursday from 11:00 A.M. until the time of the service.
