Edith Smith Couch, 99, passed away December 23, 2016.  She was born November 13, 1917 to Edgar and Bertha Smith in Bethlehem Township, Clark County, Indiana.  She was preceded in death by husband Ernest P. Couch and six siblings, brothers, James, Frank, Courtney, Forrest and Elmer Smith, sister, Ruby Smith Bare.  She is survived by her children, Douglas (Pamela) Couch, Phillip (Dayna) Couch and Phyllis (Kenneth) Roland, grandchildren, Christopher Couch, Nathan Couch, Andrew Couch, Jason Roland, Katie Roland Bennett, Ryder Couch, Merit Couch Suddarth, fourteen, great-grandchildren.  She retired from the West Clark Community School System.  She had taught elementary school in New Washington, Charlestown (6 grades in a one room school), and Henryville, Indiana.  She and her husband Ernest were active members of their Airstream Club and traveled many thousands of miles through much of Canada, Mexico, and the United States.  Memorials are suggested to the Speed Memorial Church or Maple Manor Christian Home.  Funeral services will be held 10AM Tuesday at the Garr Funeral Home in Sellersburg with burial to follow at Silver Creek Cemetery.  Visitation will be Monday from 4-8PM and anytime after 9AM until the time of service on Tuesday.  Online condolences may be expressed at www.garrfuneralservices.com
