IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Earline F.
Broady
November 10, 1931 – November 16, 2024
Earline F. Broady , 93, entered into eternity at her home in Memphis, Indiana, on Saturday, November 16, 2024, with her sons by her side.
Born on November 10, 1931, in Kentucky, Earline was the beloved daughter of Joseph and Bessie (White) Minton. She spent her life as a hardworking woman who found joy in her family, her work, and her many passions.
Earline was the co-owner of Broady Masonry, a business she helped operate for 50 plus years. Known for her unwavering determination and strength, she was still laying brick into her late-80s, a testament to her tireless work ethic. Earline was the first woman in the bricklayer union in the United States. In the 1970's she appeared in the shows, "Whats My Line" and "To Tell the Truth."
In addition to her masonry skills, Earline had a deep love for the land. She cultivated large, vibrant gardens that were a source of pride and nourishment for her family. Her hands were just as skilled at sewing as they were at laying bricks—she created beautiful quilts cherished by her loved ones.
In later years, Earline could often be found helping at her son's greenhouse, aptly named "Granny's Garden Center" in honor of her legacy. Her early life was spent working on the family owned dairy and produce farm—a reflection of her lifelong commitment to hard work and family.
Earline was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Martin E. Broady, her son, Coy Broady, and her parents, Joseph and Bessie Minton.
Survivors include her sons, Martin Broady, Carl Broady and Kevin Broady; grandchildren Matthue Broady, Miranda Broady, Ashley Broady, and Andrew Broady; and her great-grandson, Leander Darst.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, November 23, 2024 at Garr Funeral Home (7806 Highway 311, Sellersburg, Indiana) with interment to follow at Ebenezer Cemetery in Memphis, Indiana. Visitation will be held on Friday from 3:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. and on Saturday from 9:00 A.M. until the time of the service at the funeral home.
