Dorothy (Dot) Marie Metje , 94, entered eternal life on Wednesday, August 10, 2022, at Baptist Health Floyd Hospital in New Albany, Indiana. She was born on June 11, 1928, in Cairo, Illinois. Dorothy retired from New Albany Floyd County Schools where she worked as an Executive Secretary. She was generous of spirit and shared her love of the Lord with others. This led to her card ministry including prayer cloths affirming her belief in prayers and miracles which touched many lives. She was a Sunday School teacher and loved to sing praises to the Lord.  She held Bible studies in her home which were open to everyone. Some of her favorite pastimes were playing cards with her family and friends on her back porch while observing the beauty of God's nature & creatures.  As well as her monthly Bunco Club of 20+ years. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 66 years, Morris (Moe) Metje, daughter, Janet Wiseman, granddaughter, Shanna Wright, brother, Fred Danner and sister, Ruth Schneider. Survivors include her daughters, Deborah Turner (Roger), Terri Ebling (Kent), and Lisa Freiberger (Brian) and 4 grandchildren, Jeremy Owen (Julia), Christopher Wiseman (Lynn), Andrew Freiberger and Mary Freiberger.   Great-grandchildren, Elisabeth, Dylan, Jackson, Sara, Aubrey, Kyle, Jayna and Ethan. Dorothy also leaves behind her niece, Leah Anderson, great niece, Alex and great nephews, Max and Ian, and several nieces and nephews in Illinois and Florida. A combined Celebration of Life will be held for Dorothy along with Grand-daughter, Shanna Marie Wright, who passed away July 5, 2022 (see original obituary at Garr Funeral Home) at Crossroads Community Church 2248 Charlestown Road New Albany, Indiana on Saturday October 8, 2022, at 2:00pm.
