Doris L. Everitt , 88, entered eternal life on Tuesday, August 16, 2022. She was born on April 20, 1934 to the late William and Georgiana Hart (Whitaker) in Lexington, Kentucky.  After earning her Master's Degree from Indiana University, Doris taught for West Clark Community Schools. She attempted to retire at age 65, but her love for her students and education would not allow that to happen. Doris served as a substitute teacher for West Clark and Greater Clark County Schools until the pandemic began.  She retired at age 85. Doris was a member of the Northside Christian Church of New Albany. In her free time she enjoyed crocheting and spending quality time with her children and grandchildren.  Doris was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Everitt, Sr.

Survivors include her son, Fred Everitt, Jr. (Karen) of Sellersburg, her daughter, Terry Ledbetter (Joe) of Charlestown, her grandchildren, Jennifer Hooe (Roy), Stephen Everitt (Shannon), Mary Beth Allen (Josh), Joseph Ledbetter, Jr. (Julie) and Mandy Basham (Joe). Doris also leaves behind 9 Great grandchildren to cherish her memory, Ethan, Seth, Bryson, Mallory, Navey, Savannah, Parker, Blake and Stephen.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, August 22, 2022 at the Garr Funeral Home in Sellersburg with interment to follow at Sellersburg Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Sunday from 1:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. and on Monday from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the service at the funeral home.  Memorial contributions can be made to: American Cancer Society (P.O.
