Donna Joy (Hendricks) Gore , 76, of Salem, Indiana, passed away peacefully on March 10, 2024 at Baptist Health Floyd Hospital.

Joy was born on January 2, 1948 at Saint Mary's Hospital in Louisville, Kentucky to Lillian (King) and John W. Hendricks. She graduated from Valley High School and later completed her education in real estate at Indiana University Southeast. On July 27, 1968, she married the love of her life, Elmer E. Gore, Jr.

Joy, a devoted spouse and mother, dedicated her life to her family. The concept of home held a profound significance for her, a sentiment that transcended mere words, encapsulating the deep love she held for her family. The very essence of her being was intricately intertwined with the warmth and security that 'home' symbolized; a sanctuary where her heart found its truest expression. Whether crafting meals with love or actively volunteering within her community and church, Joy's love for family and home resonated through every aspect of her life. Beyond her family, her love for Christ stood as the greatest devotion in her life. With God, she discovered the true meaning of home and dedicated her life to serving His Word with unwavering commitment.

Joy is survived by her children Mike Gore (Sherry); Dawn Meador (Dan); her grandchildren, Logan Gore (Chloe), Heather Churchman (Tyler), Aly Meador, Alex Meador; and great-grandson, Karson Churchman; as well as siblings, Gigi Schreck, Curtis Hendricks, Kenneth Hendricks, and Gay Buege. Joy was predeceased by her husband, Elmer E. Gore, Jr. and siblings Ramona State, Dixie Koebel, John Hendricks Jr, Gloria Gettings, Nancy Covington, Michael Hendricks, and Ronald Hendricks.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, March 14, 2024 at Garr Funeral Home (7806 Highway 311, Sellersburg, Indiana 47172). Friends and family are invited to visitation from 4:00pm-6:00pm with her service to follow.
