Obituary

It is with grateful hearts for a life well lived and comfort of knowing he is now at home in Heaven, the family of Donald Ray Jackson announces his peaceful passing on August 22, 2026, at the age of 88, surrounded by his family and love. He was a beloved member of the Borden, Indiana community Born on March 9, 1938, in Borden, Indiana, Donald lived a full and vibrant life. His days were spent deeply rooted in the community that he cherished and called home. A skilled cabinet maker, Donald devoted many years to crafting at Kimballs in Borden, leaving his mark with each piece he created. Donald's service to his country was a testament to his dedication and duty. He served with honor as a Tow Missile Launcher Operator in the Army National Guard for 20 years. His contributions to his nation and his community were both steadfast and admirable. Beyond his profession and service, Donald was a man of diverse interests and passions. His love for coon hunting, gardening, and fishing was well known, as was his enthusiasm for motorcycles, which he even drag-raced in his younger years. More than anything, Donald found joy and spiritual nourishment as a faithful member of the Borden Community Church, where he was deeply involved and formed bonds that he cherished as family. Donald was preceded in death by his loving parents, Homer and Catherine Jackson, his devoted spouse, Marilyn Jan Jackson, his brothers, Charles Jackson, and Danny Miller. He leaves behind a legacy of love, survived by his brother James Jackson (Kathy), and his children: sons Kevin Jackson (Lori) Derek Jackson (Beverly), Mitchell Jackson (Suzanne), Steven Jackson (Angela), and his daughter Jan Endicott (Charles). Donald was also a loving grandfather to Aaron, Andrew, Adam, Michelle, Eric, Adrian, Andrea Danielle, Kara, Colton, Austin, and a proud great-grandfather to 21 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Visitation for Donald Ray Jackson will be held on Wednesday, August 26, 2026, at Garr Funeral Home (7806 Highway 311, Sellersburg, Indiana), from 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm. and on Thursday from 9:00 A.M. until 11:00 A.M. A funeral service will be held Thursday at 11:00 am in the funeral home chapel. Mr. Jackson will be laid to rest next to his wife at Walnut Hill Cemetery in Borden.
