Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Charles L. Sibert, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend to many. Charles left us peacefully on Sunday, July 5th, 2026, at the age of 91.

Charles was born on Tuesday, April 9th, 1935, in Louisville, Kentucky, to Charles Sibert Sr. and Louise Chitwood. He was predeceased by his parents, his sister Martha Mattox, his nephew Lennie Denhard, and his great-grandchild Ashton Sibert.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Lisa Sibert, and his loving children Lindsay Sibert (wife Elaine), Ross Sibert (wife Lesley), and step-sons Ron Self and Mark Self (wife Chasity), by his siblings, Carolyn Weisman and Edward Eastwood. Charles was a cherished grandfather to Kierstyn Foote, Tabatha Sibert, Noah Sibert, Kendall Sibert, Kandace Sibert, Destany Myers, Abigail Self, Lincoln Self, Brianna Self, and Caleb Self. He was also blessed with great-grandchildren Layne Foote-Leitner, Alexander Abdulnur and Reed Eisenback, who brought immense joy to his life.

Charles dedicated his life to serving his country and his community. As a proud veteran of the United States Air Force, he exemplified courage and commitment. Following his service, he worked as a mechanic, a career that he pursued with passion until his retirement. Charles was also actively involved in softball little league, where he made a lasting impact on young athletes.

A man of many talents, Charles loved to sing and often shared his gift by performing for patients at nursing homes. He was known for his warm heart and friendly demeanor, and he never met a stranger with whom he couldn't strike up a conversation.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Friday, July 17, 2026 at the Garr Funeral Home (7806 Highway 311, Sellersburg, Indiana 47172). Visitation will take place on Friday from 11:00 A.M. until the time of the service at the funeral home.
