Charles G. Hurst , 86, passed away on Saturday, May 12, 2018 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born on July 7, 1931 to the late Glenn and Geneva Hurst in Pekin, Indiana. Mr. Hurst honorably served his country in the United States Army. He retired from Ford Motor Company after over 30 years as a General Forman and was the owner of Hurst Truck Sales located in Pekin, Indiana. Mr. Hurst was a member of the St. John Paul II Catholic Church (St. Paul Campus), American Legion Post 69 (Avon Park, Florida) and the V.F.W. During his retirement years Mr. Hurst enjoyed working at his business, traveling the world and spending the winter months at their second home in Frost Proof, Florida. He was preceded in death by his first wife Elizabeth "Betty" Hurst.
Survivors include his wife, Vickie Hurst of Charlestown, Indiana, his daughters, Diane Bierly (John) of Borden, Indiana, Debbie Bush (J.D.) of Scottsburg, Indiana and his stepson, Barry Terrell (Debbie) of Pekin, Indiana. Mr. Hurst also leaves behind 6 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great- grandchildren.
A funeral mass will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, May 16, 2018 at the St. John Paul II Catholic Church (St. Paul Campus) in Sellersburg, Indiana with interment to follow at Crown Hill Cemetery (Catholic Section) in Salem, Indiana. Visitation will be held at the Garr Funeral Home in Sellersburg on Tuesday from 2:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. and on Wednesday from 9:00 A.M. until the processional to the Church. Memorial contributions can be made to Amedisys Hospice Care (303 Quartermaster Ct. Jeffersonville, Indiana 47130) or American Cancer Society (P.O. Box 22718, Oklahoma City Oklahoma 73123).
