Brenda Ann Abernathy, 74, entered eternal life on Friday, April 19, 2019 at Baptist Health Floyd.  She was a cook for William's Food Company in Louisville and beloved wife, mother and grandmother.  Brenda was preceded in death by her parents, Jacob and Ivol Higgs and a brother-in-law, Keith Rein.  Surviving are her husband, William "Bill" Abernathy, Charlestown, daughters, Alison Thompson, Charlestown, Chris (Buddy) Hoffman, Richmond, Texas, brothers, Bill (Ester) Higgs, Memphis, Barry (Janie) Higgs, Memphis, Jacob (Nancy) Higgs, Sellersburg, Mike (Stephanie) Higgs, Louisville, sisters, Betty (Lealand) Joyce, Sellersburg, Dollie Rein, Henryville, grandchildren, Ryan Hoffman, Megan Hoffman, Erika Fitzgerald, Kaitlin Hoffman, Tasha He and three, great-grandchildren.  Funeral services will be held 11AM Thursday at the Garr Funeral Home in Sellersburg with burial to follow at Graceland Memorial Park in New Albany.  Visitation will be Wednesday from 1-8PM and anytime after 9AM until the time of service on Thursday.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the American Heart Association, 6100 West 96th St. #200, Indianapolis, Indiana 46278.  Online condolences can be made at www.garrfuneralservices.com.
