Alfred E. Baumann, 99, of Sellersburg, Indiana, passed away peacefully at Maple Manor Christian Home on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.

Al was born on December 13, 1926, in New Albany, Indiana, to the late Clyde and Elsie Atkins Baumann. He was a lifelong member of St. John Paul II Catholic Church. He was a member of the Men's Club and worked the Turkey Shoots.

Al was one of the founding members of Silver Creek Water Cooperative and served on the board for many years. Al had various occupations throughout his working career. He retired from Farm Bureau Insurance after 21 years of service. He was awarded numerous awards.

After retirement, Al enjoyed traveling with Mazie in their motor home. They went on many vacations all around the United States.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Geneva Andres; his brothers, Anthony and Cletus Baumann; and his granddaughter, Alissa Knight.

Al is survived by his devoted wife of 78 years, Clara Mae “Mazie”; his daughters, Janet Lee and Barb Duncan (Elwood); his son, Mike Coleman (Darlene); his grandchildren, Keenan Knight (Charity) and Kelly Knight Beck (Jarrod); and his great-grandchildren, Whitney Knight, Grayson Knight, Brayden Beck and Carson Beck.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, August 31, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at St. John Paul II Catholic Church, St. Joe Hill Chapel ( 2605 West St. Joe Road, Sellersburg, Indiana 47172).

Visitation will be held at Garr Funeral Home (7806 Highway 311, Sellersburg, Indiana 47172). on Sunday, August 30, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. with the Rosary starting at 7:30 p.m. Visitation will resume on Monday, August 31, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the procession to the church.
