Robert Lewis Shireman, 81, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 13, 2019 at his home in Sellersburg. He was born on December 15, 1937 to the late Stoy and Golda Shireman in New Albany, Indiana. Mr. Shireman was an educator with West Clark Community Schools for 40 years. He earned his bachelor’s degree from Purdue University in 1960 and later earned his Master’s degree in school administration from Indiana University. During his rewarding career with West Clark Schools he served the School system in many capacities under the titles of teacher, principal and assistant superintendent. Mr. Shireman was a member of the Cathedral of the Assumption Catholic Church in Louisville, Kentucky. He thoroughly enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and sharing his passion for fishing with them. He was preceded in death by his brother, John Shireman.
Survivors include his loving wife, Mary Lou Shireman of Sellersburg, his son, Scott Shireman (Beth) of New Albany, daughters, Donna Richard (David) of Jeffersonville, Rhonda Harrold (Chris) of Woodbury Minnesota, brother, David Shireman of Indianapolis and his sister Sheila Shireman of Indianapolis.
Mr. Shireman also leaves behind 6 grandchildren, Matthew, Mason, Nicholas, Jacqueline, Lauren and Evan.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 12:00 P.M. on Monday, March 18, 2019 at the Cathedral of the Assumption (433 S 5th St # 101, Louisville, KY 40202) with interment to follow at Sellersburg Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the Garr Funeral Home in Sellersburg on Sunday from 12:00 P.M. until 7:30 P.M. and will resume on Monday from 9:00 A.M. until the time of the precession to the church. A Eulogy will be held at 7:30 P.M. on Sunday night. Memorial Contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society. (P.O.
