Michael Stockelman Obituary

Michael Ray Stockelman, 54, of Memphis, Indiana was called to his heavenly home late on May 2, 2019. He passed peacefully at the University of Louisville Hospital, with his wife of 28 years and children by his side, after fighting complications caused by a stroke he suffered on April 26.

Mike was born in Columbus, Indiana on November 20, 1964, to William and Hazel (Kuehn) Stockelman. Mike received his Bachelors’ Degree in Engineering from Purdue University. He worked for Cummins Inc. for the past 28 years. He was a member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Columbus.

He is survived by the love of his life, Sandra (Simmons) Stockelman, his children, Jacob, 25, and Molly, 20, his mother, Hazel, his brothers, Daniel and Timothy (Rebecca), and many brothers- and sisters-in-law, nieces, and nephews, as well as his beloved dog, Persistence. He was preceded in death by his father, William.

Mike loved to spend time in the outdoors. He enjoyed hunting, camping, and spending time with others while enjoying God’s Creation. He was also an avid volunteer for The National Wild Turkey Federation, Boy Scouts of America, Indiana Hunter Education Association, Wilderness and Remote First Aid Training, Paralyzed Veterans Association, Silver Creek Conservation Club, and Cummins Seymour Engine Plant Backsacks Program.

Mike wished to be cremated, and requested that his ashes be scattered on his hunting property.  A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 7, 2019, at Garr Funeral Home in Sellersburg, Indiana.
