After a two year fight with colon cancer, Julie K. Kasse (Wesson), age 40, New Albany, took her last earthly breath at 4:40am on Monday, May 1, 2017.  Julie faced her battle full of grace with a brave face and a positive attitude.

She was born in Camden, South Carolina on May 22, 1976 to John and Joan Wesson.  She was a 1994 graduate from Charlestown High School where she was proud to cheer for her Pirates!  Julie loved being a cheerleader and was known to break into a cheer at the most random times throughout her life.    After high school, she went on to earn her bachelor’s degree in Sociology from Indiana University Southeast.  She has been a Consultant for Humana for 15 years.  

On May 30, 2009, Julie, Joe and Hunter became a family and two years later, their circle was complete with the arrival of their son, Jacob (Jake).

Julie is survived by her husband, Joe; her son, Jake; step-son, Hunter; brother, Jack (Brittany); her dad, John; step-mom, Kathy; father and mother-in-law, Chuck and Pat; brother-in-law, Bryan (Janie); two nephews, Austin and Lucas; and countless friends.

Julie is preceded in death by her beautiful mother, Joan.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 3, from 12Noon-8PM at the Garr Funeral Home in Sellersburg with the funeral being held at 11AM Thursday at Northside Christian Church.  Visitation will be offered from 9AM until the time of service on Thursday at the church and burial will follow at Sellersburg Cemetery where Julie will be laid to rest beside her mother, Joan.

If you wish, in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to either The Colon Cancer Prevention Project or Gilda’s Club.  Both organizations were dear to Julie’s heart.
